Cameron Carter-Vickers injury return timeline detailed as Ange Postecoglou confirms surgery success

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Cameron Carter-Vickers had successful surgery and the timeline for his return has been revealed.

The Celtic boss confirmed following the Scottish Cup semi-final win over Rangers at Hampden that the USA international had played his final game of the campaign. He's been playing through the pain barrier for quite a while with his boss hailing his performances throughout that period for the Hoops as 'outstanding'.

The defender is a real fans' favourite and major player for the Scottish champions and his injury lay-off is not as long as first feared with rumours circulating over timeframes. However, in a major boost he will return in time for the new campaign as he begins to get himself ready for pre-season ahead of another big season in Glasgow's east end.

Postecoglou told Sky Sports : “He’s had the surgery, he’s on his way back and it went really well and he’ll be alright for the start of the season, I’m sure.

"It’s a great boost. He was really keen to play up until last weekend. He knew how important that was in the context of our season and he's a very important part of our set-up and our team.

“He’s been carrying that injury for quite a while and at the same time he’s never used it as an excuse for a performance. He’s just got on with things and been outstanding.

"It’s good for him because now he knows he can get himself ready for pre-season and ready to go for next year knowing he’s contributed significantly to what’s happened this year.”
