Cameron Carter-Vickers in Celtic transfer declaration as he explains Premier League interest

Cameron Carter-Vickers insists even Premier League offers couldn't deter him from returning to Celtic.

The centre-back was a colossus on loan at Parkhead last season under boss Ange Postecoglou, claiming Premiership glory and a League Cup trophy. After talks with parent club Tottenham, a deal to bring him to Glasgow permanently was agreed, leaving the defender delighted. Talk of staying in the Premier League with other clubs was suggested but the American international was content with his plan.

Carter-Vickers insists that there was only one place he wanted to return to after a successful season at Celtic : “I was linked with a few Premier League clubs but it was never anything concrete because I was always set from the end of last season that I wanted to sign for Celtic. That’s what I wanted to do. It didn’t happen immediately but it was still done quite quickly and I was delighted.

“It was important for me to finally get away from Tottenham. I think I kind of knew Tottenham’s stance before the end of the season.

"I didn’t really have to go back in the summer and speak to him. So it was quite simple if the clubs could agree a fee. To get the deal done early in the window was good.”

"We’d a very good season last year, not just me, the team. I’ve bonded well with the team and the coaching staff. I enjoy being here. I got on well with the coaches and players and I think I improved as a player as well."

24-year-old Carter-Vickers was brought through the Spurs academy but had six separate loan stints away from London including his Parkhead stint. He's been capped 11 times by the USA.

He is one of five Celtic signings so far ahead of the Premiership campaign that kicks off on July 31st against Aberdeen.

Daizen Maeda and Jota have turned loans into permanent contracts with Alexandro Bernabei and Benjamin Siegrist arriving too.
