Cameron Carter-Vickers in Celtic 'expectations' admission as he makes Kyogo 'can't catch him' quip

Cameron Carter-Vickers insists he understands the expectations of Celtic to win more trophies after their Viaplay Cup final triumph.

The solid defender was key to Ange Postecoglou's side securing the first piece of silverware of the season against rivals Rangers in a tantalising 2-1 win at Hampden Park. Carter-Vickers, who made a crucial block to stop Fashion Sakala from scoring during the final, secured his third trophy in Celtic colours after making the permanent switch from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

And the Englishman admits the expectations of more trophies under the Australian is clear, and that brace hero Kyogo, who scored in both halves of the final, is so good that even some of the Parkhead squad can't catch him while in training.

He said: "Any final at any level is going to feature two teams desperate to win. I thought first half we were good and had control of the game. Second half was a bit more open but you have to expect that in the final.

"Me and Carl [Starfelt] have been at the back together now for a year and a half almost so we understand each other's games quite well and can link up. That's not just down to me and him its about the forward players who do a lot of pressing high up the pitch. That definitely helps up.

"We're fully aware at this club the expectation to win every trophy we're in. We're fully focused on maintaining our gap at the top of the table and going for the Scottish Cup."

On Kyogo, he added: "He's always in the right place at the right time. It's something that he works on a lot. I try in training to be fully aware of his movement."

When asked if the squad are not allowed to kick him in training, he joked: "No we are allowed, the problem is we just can't catch him."
