Cameron Carter Vickers handed Celtic transfer hint as USA boss offers international recall caveat

USA boss Gregg Berhalter has hailed Cameron Carter-Vickers form for Celtic after the defender's first call-up in three years.

However, he states he has to keep up those standards to keep his place in the squad.

The centre-back will take part in a busy international schedule to make his case for a World Cup call up during two friendlies against Morocco and Uruguay and two Concacaf Nations League games.

The Tottenham loanee has been a standout for Ange Postecoglou's side this side playing a vital part in reclaiming the Scottish Premiership title.

Berhalter now wants to see him replicate those standards on the international scene.

He said: "Cam had an outstanding season at Celtic. They won the title and he was a key part of that.

"It will be nice to work with him again. We think he has good comfort on the ball, a good one vs one defender with speed who can cover the space in behind him.

"So we're excited to see what they can do in camp and what they can do for us."

However, Berhalter warned that players must keep up their high standards if they want to remain in the team he takes to Qatar.

Carter-Vickers has a huge decision to make on his future with the prospect of Champions League football at Celtic, while several English clubs are tracking the Tottenham loanee.

The US boss states they will be keeping a close eye on the developments of all their players ahead of final squad decisions in November.

When asked if these call-ups reflected the finished squad, he added: “Around the edges, there is room.

”And if a guy’s in form and doing a great job. I can expect him to to make a case to be on the roster.”
