Cameron Carter Vickers Celtic transfer fears eased as Spurs return talk is dismissed for now

Cameron Carter-Vickers is preparing to be part of the Brendan Rodgers era 2.0 despite talk of leaving Celtic for Tottenham, reports in America have suggested.

The US international is still in recovery from a knee operation that ended his 22/23 season early but he has shown over two years both on loan and as a permanent player in Glasgow's east-end how key he is. Carter-Vickers was brought in from Tottenham in 2021 initially but now that the man who brought him to Scotland - Ange Postecoglou - is in charge of his former club, rumours in the Sunday papers suggested that he'd be keen on the centre-back.

Reo Hatate and Kyogo Furuhashi are also reportedly on Postecoglou's radar as the threat of a raid on Celtic lingers. But according to SBI Soccer's Larry Henry JR, 'a source close to the player confirmed' that no bids had arrived from Tottenham for Carter-Vickers as of yet.

It is then claimed that while 'interest' is likely, the 25-year-old is 'preparing' to be at Celtic. That will be music to the ears of the fanbase as they look to see the side Rodgers builds for Champions League group stage action.

Odin Thiago Holm has arrived to beef up the playmaker options. And Australian attacker Marco Tilio could be signing number two.
