Cambuslang Rangers co-boss Billy Campbell insists the entirety of his squad will be needed if they are to enjoy a successful end of season run-in.
The Wee Gers moved a step closer to the West of Scotland Football League Conference B title with a comfortable 3-0 win away at Carluke Rovers.
Amid testing weather conditions, John Gemmell, Scott Anson and Gordon Dick all struck to keep them two points above second-placed Gartcairn, who Camby have three games in hand over.
Campbell was pleased with the victory, which was harder than it looked on paper: “I think we are pleased with the result but a bit of credit has to go to Carluke. They were set up well and they were defending resolutely.
“They worked really hard so we had to go and earn the win. It’s something we say to the guys every week. You have got to earn your wins and we had to work real hard.
“The wind conditions were really tough for both teams and at times it was hard. We managed to get through it and with our chances created and possession, I don’t think anybody could have said we didn’t deserve it.
“We had four or five chances before the first goal so it was a tough day. The Carluke’s of this world don’t make it easy for you so we have to go and earn our wins.”
Despite their lead with games in hand at the summit of their conference, Campbell is taking nothing for granted in terms of silverware won.
He is keen to use all of his squad to ensure they have the best possible chance of success and promotion. Dick came off the bench to net in Saturday’s match and Camby’s co-boss believes it points to squad depth.
He explained: “We managed to get two or three of the boys some game time in the last 20 or 25 minutes once I thought we were comfortable. I try my best to be respectful to everybody and not making changes unless it’s tactical or we are comfortable.
“It’s another win done and if somebody offered us a 3-0 win beforehand, we’d have taken it. We have a good set of players with a good bench there. These guys would start at other teams.
“It’s a problem for us but a good problem to have. You need to manage it and be respectful with guys to make sure they are playing a part - because they all are.”
Cambuslang Rangers take on Conference C side Wishaw in the Kilmarnock Pie West of Scotland Football League round two this Saturday.
Campbell added: “We’ve got a lot of tough games coming in the league so nothing is given at the moment. It’s a wee break from the league campaign and we know Wishaw fairly well.
“We will set up to go and win.”
