Cambuslang Rangers co-boss Paul McColl admits their defeat to Kirkintilloch Rob Roy will ‘likely’ relegate them from the top flight, as he blasted his side’s display as their worst at home all season.
The Somervell Park side went down 3-0 at home to their fellow strugglers and they are two points adrift of Kilwinning Rangers at the bottom of the Premier Division, ahead of facing them at home tonight.
Camby are 10 points away from safety in the division and McColl admits it is hard to see a way out for his side now.
He said: “Saturday was the worst we have been at home all season.
“We were really poor and maybe one or two of the players get pass marks.
“Tony Stevenson and Calum McLean did well, but the rest... it just wasn’t happening for them on the day.
“Fair play to Rob Roy, they played well and scored a few goals.
“Did we look like scoring? No, we hardly created any chances and we were well beaten.
“We didn’t turn up and you are never going to beat anybody if only two of your players turn up.
“It’s disappointing because that result is more than likely going to put us down. It’s now more than likely that we need to rely on other teams getting beat and hope we win maybe five or six of the last six games.
“I can’t see that happening at the moment, but you just never know with football. You don’t know until it is mathematically impossible and it isn’t yet, but we have left ourselves with a big job to do to stay up.
"Tonight is a game we have a chance of getting something out of.
"Kilwinning haven't been winning much recently either so we will try to get a win there and see where that game takes us."
A trip to third-place Pollok now awaits Camby on Saturday and McColl admits he’ll be happy to be away from Somervell Park, which is in need of repair with a fundraising campaign on the go to help improve the surface.
He added: “Pollok on Saturday will probably suit us more because our park is dreadful right now.
“It is hard for any team to play football on it and that is the problem we’ve got at the moment.
“The fundraiser for it is going okay but it is difficult because people don’t have a lot of spare cash at the moment.
“It is what it is, but we are looking forward to the next game. We’ve done okay against the teams like Pollok, Troon and Glenafton this season and we’ve given them all a game, so hopefully we can do that again.”
McColl also congratulated WoSFL neighbours Rutherglen Glencairn on reaching the Junior Cup final.
He said: “We wish Rutherglen good luck in the final. It isn’t easy to get there and well done to Willie [Harvey] and the guys. We hope they go on and win it.”
