A Cambridge physicist and her father are the two relatives who died when a car ploughed into their family as they walked along a seafront in Kent.
Noga Sella, 40, and her father Yoram Hirshfeld, 78, died when a black Alfa Romeo hit the group outside a multi-storey car park in Ramsgate yesterday (August 10).
Among the injured was a girl of primary school age who was taken to a London hospital for treatment for serious injuries.
A man aged in his 40s and a boy of primary school age suffered minor injuries.
According to an online profile Noga was an experienced algorithm engineer and R&D physicist. She also volunteered with the Guides.
A vigil led by Mayor of Ramsgate Raushan Ara is due to take place this evening at the car park where the collision took place.
She told Kent Live: “My thoughts are with the friends and family of those who lost their lives and those injured in the tragic incident last night in Leopold Street, Ramsgate.
"On behalf of the people of Ramsgate I send our sincere condolences to the family who have lost a mother and grandfather."
A restaurant worker who was the first on the scene called the emergency services.
Anastasiya, 42, who didn't want to give her second name, said: "It was a big crash. A car was driving down the road while people were waiting for the bus.
"I was there just after it happened and called the ambulance and the police and they came really quickly. They arrived around 10pm.
"The police have told us the family were from Israel."
Anastasiya, who has lived in Ramsgate for five years, said she saw the fire brigade lifting the car off a woman before medics tried to resuscitate her with CPR.
A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Officers attended and a 30-year-old man from Ramsgate was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and leaving the scene of a collision.
"He is also currently receiving hospital treatment for minor injuries.
"Enquiries into the incident are being carried out by officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit who are keen to hear from any witnesses, local businesses with CCTV evidence or drivers with relevant dashcam footage.

A number of floral tributes have been left at the scene of the crash.
One card reads: "My heartiest condolences go out to the family and friends of this tragic accident on behalf of the people of Ramsgate."
Another note adds: "We don't know your names but we were with you all and praying for you when medics tried to save you.
"Our prayers are with you both and the rest of your family."
