King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia received on Monday Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and President of the Association of Muslim Scholars Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, reported the Saudi Press Agency.
Al-Issa hailed Cambodia as a model of religious freedoms, reflecting a high level of awareness and national harmony among its people.
King Norodom, for his part, praised the MWL for boosting diversity around the world and awareness among Muslim communities.
Al-Issa visited the Islamic Center in Phnom Penh and met with Cambodian Islamic leaders, who lauded the MWL’s efforts around the world.
During his trip, Al-Issa delivered the Friday sermon at the Grand Mosque in Phnom Penh at the request of the Islamic religious leadership in Cambodia.
He also met with Great Supreme Buddhist Patriarch of Cambodia Tep Vong, who described Al-Issa' visit as historic, stressing the importance of boosting cooperation among followers of various faiths.
The Royal University of Phnom Penh hosted Al-Issa, where he was received by the Cambodian minister of education, prime minister, university president, several instructors, researchers and students. He delivered a lecture entitled: “Our shared values and civil alliance.”
