Cincinnati Bengals rookie cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt admits he hit a tough rookie wall well before he even took his first on-field snap.
Said wall occurred while Taylor-Britt had to sit out on the IR list, prematurely ending his summer and delaying his NFL debut.
“Everybody hits the rookie wall. I hit mine kind of early without even playing,” Taylor-Britt said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “Maybe I’ll hit it again when I’m playing, but it was just tough not being able to play the game you love and being on the sidelines.”
The good news for Taylor-Britt? While he might always hit another so-called wall at some later date, that certainly didn’t happen during his debut against the Atlanta Falcons. The offense didn’t test him and everyone came away impressed with his showing after getting more work than expected while rotating with veteran Eli Apple.
With coaches already confirming Taylor-Britt will see notable work while subbing in for Apple next week and beyond, it certainly feels like the worst is behind the exciting second-round pick.
