Cam Newton launched an absurd 60-yard rocket from the goal line in first NFL comeback steps

Tuesday might have been very important for Cam Newton’s future.

After announcing he’d be working out at Auburn’s Pro Day with 2023 draft prospects (with the weirdest font), the 33-year-old made it pretty apparent he wants back into the NFL as a starting quarterback.

And while any legitimate interest from prospective squads appears to be a longshot for now, Newton did quite well for a controlled setting. No one will be able to fairly evaluate a quarterback in a pad-less environment with no defensive pressure, so the best anyone can do is make great throws on the money.

Newton, who developed a trademark for unleashing bombs during his career with the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots, accomplished just that. This approximate 60-yard rocket from the goal line shows the former NFL MVP still has plenty of juice in his arm:

PHEW.

Again, I know it means little. I know Newton still has to find a new home in the league. But it’s so ridiculously cool to see a pro football legend of the 2010s show off his gifts again.
