Cam Bynum acknowledges Tom Brady as the GOAT but claims he’s coming

If you asked Camryn Bynum, like most people, he would tell you Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is the greatest football player of all time.

Being deemed the best at anything is an admirable and exalted position, but for guys like Bynum, it’s the white whale. It’s the one thing he’s willing to spend his entire career chasing.

Heading into his second year in the league, you can already sense a difference in the former fourth-round pick out of California.

For now, he is expected to step into the role of starter next to Vikings six-time Pro Bowl safety Harrison Smith. It’s a role he relishes and an opportunity he clearly won’t be taking for granted.

“I’m trying to be the best ever,” Bynum told the media on Tuesday, via the Pioneer Press’ Chris Tomasson. “That’s the biggest thing I do. That’s why I play the game. That’s why I put in the extra time. I’m not just trying to be here and make money, I’m trying to be the best football player regardless in history.”

You have to admire Bynum’s willingness to put that goal out there and actually going out and chasing it.

The Vikings could legitimately benefit from having two great safeties in the defensive backfield. Even a modicum of improvement would be considered a success for one of the worst passing defenses in the last two years.
