Calvin Ramsay shares shock reaction as Liverpool team-mates stunned by Mohamed Salah

As the Reds prepare to travel south for their FA Cup fourth round tie at Brighton, it's time for the Liverpool FC morning digest on Friday, January 27.

'That can't be right' - Calvin Ramsay opens up on injury setback after difficult Liverpool start

Calvin Ramsay admits he refused to believe the injury prognosis that brought a shuddering halt to his Liverpool career before it had even started.

Ramsay arrived from Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen last June in an initial £4million deal, only to be diagnosed with a serious back injury during his medical.

The 19-year-old right-back had to wait until the Champions League group stage visit of Napoli in November before making his senior debut for the Reds, with his first start - and thus far only other outing - coming in the Carabao Cup third-round tie at home to Derby County the following week.

And recalling his initial fitness setback, Ramsay said: "I was gutted, to be honest. I was in a scanner for about two hours and got told I had two stress fractures and had to go back in. I didn't even know it was there and I couldn't feel it. When they told me I thought: 'That can't be right'."

'Here we go' - What Mohamed Salah did in Liverpool training to leave team-mates amazed

Mohamed Salah certainly hasn't forgotten where the back of the net is judging by the latest footage to emerge from Liverpool's training.

The Egyptian international has not been in the hottest form of late, netting just once in his last seven matches, but that didn't stop him from showcasing his deadly finishing in front of goal as part of a shooting drill at the AXA Training Centre.

Training alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and Harvey Elliott, the trio took it in turns to receive the ball on the edge of the box and control it before taking aim at the goal. A video from Liverpool's official Twitter account shows Salah score his first effort by cushioning the ball and drilling it low into the corner left-footed.

But it was his second effort that caused a stir. Receiving a higher pass inside the 'D', Salah didn't bother taking a touch and instead stepped into the flight path, unleashing an unstoppable left-foot volley. That prompted a celebration from the prolific forward, who made no effort to hide his delight at what he had produced in front of his gasping teammates.
