Calvin Ramsay £6.5m transfer confirmed as Liverpool contract clauses and fee explained

Liverpool have completed the signing of Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen in a deal worth just over £6.5m.

The Reds agreed a fee with the Scottish outfit earlier this week, with the Scotland Under-21s international undergoing his medical on Friday and Saturday. Following completion of that procedure, the 18-year-old has now put pen-to-paper on a five-year contract and completed his move to Anfield.

The initial fee is just over £4m, with a further £2.5m in add-ons based on player performance targets, such as appearances, and team achievements, while Aberdeen could benefit from a a 17.5% sell-on clause..

The teenager will link up with Jurgen Klopp ’s first team for pre-season, with Liverpool ’s squad scheduled to report back to the AXA Training Centre on July 4, and will be given a proper opportunity to be looked at by coaches and integrate with his new team-mates.

Having broken into the Aberdeen side last year, the ECHO understands there are no plans for Ramsay to be loaned out with the defender signed for the first team to provide cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Making 33 appearances, finishing with one goal and nine assists across all competitions, his performances north of the border saw him named SFWA Young Player of the Year.

Ramsay’s arrival is set to conclude Liverpool’s incoming business for the summer according to club sources, following the arrivals of Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez, with the Reds happy to wait until summer 2023 before strengthening their midfield.
