Calvin Harris says he’s ‘ruined’ relationship with huge superstar singer

Calvin Harris claims he has ‘ruined’ his relationship with a huge superstar singer he was hoping to collaborate with following a blunder live on the radio.

The world-famous DJ, 39, appeared on Greg James' Radio 1 show on Monday (March 27) following the release of his new single Miracle with Ellie Goulding.

But during a segment of the show called Sit Down, Stand Up, the Dumfries hitmaker phoned up Coldplay's Chris Martin.

The aim of the game is for guests to ring up someone in their phone book and ask whether they are sitting down or standing up when they pick up the phone.

Greg and the guest have to guess whether the person is sitting down or standing up before calling.

On March 27 it was Calvin's turn to play and he decided to phone up the Coldplay frontman but, but as the singer failed to pick up the call, Calvin had to leave a voicemail.

And after leaving the voice message he admitted that he's "ruined" their relationship now as he wanted to write a song with the pop star.

Just before giving him a phone, the DJ said: "Let's try Chris Martin from Coldplay.

"He text me the other day to say that 'Miracle is super cool' in capital letters and he says 'much love from Brazil', which means he's in Brazil."

But the singer didn't pick up and the call went straight to answer machine, and Greg told Calvin to leave a message but just ask whether he is sitting down or standing up.

After the tone, he said: "Hey Chris, it's Calvin, I'm just wondering are you sitting down or standing up?"

He then burst out laughing after hanging up and added: "I was trying to do a tune with him!"

Greg replied: "That could be a work in progress."

Calvin then said: "That's the relationship ruined", as the pair were left howling with laughter.

It comes after the DJ revealed he was planning to be a manager at Marks & Spencer before landing his big break in music.

Calvin had given up hope of landing a record deal after receiving a number of rejections from label bosses in his teens.

He started work as a shelf stacker at the M&S store in his hometown of Dumfries and set his sights on climbing the ranks there.
