Calvin Harris' glow-up as 'shallow' Vick Hope turned him down 10 years before engagement

Calvin Harris is engaged to Vick Hope after just five months of dating.

The pair sparked engagement rumours when Vick was spotted wearing a dazzling ring on her ring finger at the Chelsea Flower Show on May 23.

The DJ and TV presenter started dating earlier this year, and it’s reported that Harris proposed a few weeks ago in Ibiza.

"Calvin proposed to Vick under his favourite tree on his farm Terra Masia in Ibiza," a source told the Sun.

"Vick said yes immediately, she is madly in love with Calvin and could not be any happier."

Strictly Come Dancing star Vick might be “madly in love” with Calvin now, but that hasn’t always been the case - the presenter actually turned Harris down years ago because she was “shallow”.

Since getting rejected by Vick the first time, Harris has gone through a massive glow-up, and now he’s managed to capture the heart of the brunette beauty.

As the pair celebrate their engagement, here’s everything you need to know about the Scottish DJ’s glow-up.

In 2018, Vick revealed that she'd previously turned down Calvin because she was "shallow" and didn't realise he was going to become the handsome figure he is today.

While Hope was co-hosting Capital FM with Roman Kemp, Kemp revealed on the show: “Calvin Harris asked Vick out on a date when he did Acceptable In The '80s.”

Vick replied: “He looked how he used to look, I was shallow, I was 19, and I said no and I went off with either Scouting For Girls, or The Wombats, I don't which, I thought they were going to be bigger but no, it turns out Calvin Harris was going to turn into an Adonis.”

Calvin Harris’ younger days

In the early days of his career, Calvin looked like a completely different person to the suave DJ we know today.

Calvin’s debut album I Created Disco was released in 2007 and during this time he sported a dark messy hairdo against his pale skin.

The DJ’s fashion sense was also questionable, and it seemed that his music wasn't the only thing influenced by the 80s at the time.

In 2008, Calvin had done little to improve his funky look - if anything the young performer's hair managed to become even more wild.

In 2009 Calvin began to clean up his look as he started opting for shorter hair and a more muted wardrobe.

But just a few years later in 2012, Harris wowed fans with his transformed look, the star DJ started sporting the lighter hair he's kept to this day as, well as neat facial hair.

And it was no wonder that Calvin's look began to change as his career started to take off, he became the highest-paid DJ of the year with Forbes calculating that he earned $46 million (£36.5 million) between May 2012 and May 2013.

From there, Calvin's glow-up just got better and better and in 2014 he became the face of Emporio Armani’s men's underwear for Spring/Summer 2015.

He also returned as the face of the brand's underwear a year later and, modelled a watch line for its Fall/Winter 2015/2016 campaign.

And in 2022 Calvin has continued his glow-up, revealing a more rugged look of longer hair and a fuller beard.
