Calvin Bassey sends Dujon Sterling four word message after joining Rangers from Chelsea

Calvin Bassey has sent Dujon Sterling a four word message after joining Rangers.

Michael Beale swooped to secure the defender from Chelsea on a pre-contract agreement with the 23-year-old putting pen to paper on a four-year deal. He spent last season on loan in the English Championship with Stoke City but the lure of playing European football and the project presented by the Ibrox boss was too much to turn down as he decided to take on a new challenge north of the border.

The stopper becomes the second summer arrival as part of the Ibrox overhaul after Kieran Dowell. The midfielder also signed a pre-contract agreement from Norwich City and will join former team-mate and now fans' favourite Todd Cantwell in Glasgow after he kicked off the new era under Beale alongside Nicolas Raskin after joining the club in January.

Sharing a picture in Rangers training gear, Sterling wrote: "Excited to join this amazing club with the most incredible fans! I can’t wait for the season ahead."

Former Ibrox star Bassey - who earned a big money move to Ajax on the back of his form at the Light Blues - commented on the post and left a message of support. He wrote: "All the best bro." and signed it off with #WATP [We are The People].

Speaking to the Rangers website about his transfer, he said: “I got to speak to the gaffer straight away, I had a lot of clubs in for me but as soon as he gave me the proposal of what he wanted to do I left that meeting and I said yeah, I'm signing here.

“I wasn't expecting to make my mind up about my future this quickly but what he proposed to me was everything that I need. We were on the same wavelength, he believes in me and I believe in what he is trying to do as well so it was a no-brainer for me.

“It was how much passion he has to win, how much he wants to see players succeed and how much he believes in my ability as well. He wants everyone in this team to be on the same page and I think that is important especially if you want to be winning titles like this club really wants to do.”
