Man of the moment Calvin Bassey has continued his flying end to the season with Rangers at international level.
The Ibrox defender has been at the centre of intense transfer speculation after his outstanding displays in the Europa League and Scottish Cup finals.
And Bassey carried that into Nigeria as he set up the Super Eagles goal in their friendly defeat to Mexico in Dallas.
Rangers team-mate Joe Aribo also featured in the match which was Jose Peseiro’s first in charge of Nigeria.
Bassey played as a wing back and his brilliant cross was converted by Feyenoord’s Cyriel Dessers.
In their player ratings, soccernet.ng raved about Bassey’s display and rated him the standout performer with an 8/10 performance.
They said: “Without a doubt the best Super Eagles player on the night. Looked great in possession and aware without the ball.
“Very tidy performance with constant show of drive, solid decision-making, desire and energy.
“Knocked on the Mexican door constantly till he found an opening and delivered an inch-perfect cross for Dessers. The Rangers defender is in the form of his life.”
On Aribo they added: “Not an excellent game, but enough to show how important he can be to the team.”
“Was tidy in possession and linked up well with Iwobi and the attack. His energy ensured he kept track of the Mexicans’ fast football and when he found a good pass, he was quick to release his teammates.”
