Calvin Bassey has dropped a potential Rangers transfer exit hint.
The defender is a man in demand with a host of English and European clubs interested in the Nigeria international following an impressive campaign under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The Ibrox club are understood to value Bassey at £25million.
But the 22-year-old’s latest social media update will make Wolves fans sit up and take notice - and set alarm bells ringing among Ibrox legions.
Bassey shared a pic on his Instagram story of a chauffeur service car at a service station in England, but tagged his location as Wolverhampton Wanderers training ground.
The post was soon deleted but is sure to have set tongues wagging given the speculation surrounding the player’s future.
Steven Gerrard is thought to be keen to sign the former Leicester City man once again, having paid around just £200,000 to land him from the Foxes two years ago.
Brendan Rodgers has also been credited with an interest in taking Bassey back to the East Midlands.
Bassey put in a string of strong performances at both left back and centre back as the Gers went all the way to the Europa League final and lifted the Scottish Cup last season for the first time since 2009.
Borna Barisic’s future is up in the air after the Croatian admitted he couldn't be sure he wouldn't leave the club this summer.
If he were to depart, Rangers would be doubly determined to hold on to Bassey, who would become their first choice left back.
John Souttar’s arrival and Connor Goldson penning a new four-year deal means that the duo will likely be the first picks in the centre of defence.
But if the £25million price tag for Bassey is met, it could be hard for director of football Ross Wilson to turn down.
