Calum Chambers has spoken publicly for the first time as an Aston Villa player.
Villa completed the signing of the former Arsenal defender on a three-and-a-half-year deal on Thursday evening after it was made clear that he was no longer part of Mikel Arteta's long-term plans at the Emirates.
Nevertheless, he's understandably pleased with how everything has worked out.
"I'm very excited. It's a great club with a great manager, a great squad. I know a few of the boys here so I'm extremely excited," he told the club's website.
"It's all happened pretty quickly to be honest. It was a few days ago I was [made] aware of the interest and yeah, since then, its felt like its happened pretty quick so it's exciting times.
"It's a massive club. They're in a great moment at this moment in time. It's a very exciting place to be and everyone can see that from the outside. Things are happening here. The club's definitely moving in the right direction. For me it was a no brainer, it's a great club and it was the right thing for me to do."
Chambers continued by explaining how he's ready to play under new manager Steven Gerrard as he looks to kick on in his career.
"I've played at Villa park a few times, it's a great stadium and it's got a great set of fans, and obviously the manager as well. He [Gerrard] did very well at Rangers and he's a young, exciting manager and I can't wait to work with him.
"We spoke a few times, it's all really positive and I can't wait to get started with it all."
The Englishman, who spent the best part of eight years in north London, won the FA Cup and Community Shield with the Gunners during his time at the club.
But after making just 122 appearances in all competitions in that time, it's arguably good for all parties that he's moving on, and he's relishing the challenge of starting somewhere new.
"I was at Arsenal for a long time so to start somewhere fresh at a club like this in the moment it's in is really exciting."
