Calum Chambers is determined to get his career back on track after quitting Arsenal for Aston Villa.
The versatile defender has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal to sign for Steven Gerrard’s side.
Capped three times by England, the 27-year-old has only made five appearances for the Gunners this season and says it was a “no-brainer” to go to Premier League rivals Villa.
Southampton academy graduate Chambers, previously loaned to Middlesbrough and Fulham, said: “It was a chance to really kick on for myself in my career.
“That was one of the main reasons why Villa was so perfect for me.
“That was one of the decisions to come here.
