Calum Butcher may have kicked his last ball for Dundee United.
Tam Courts revealed the midfielder won’t play for the club again this season.
The midfielder hasn’t been involved in the United first-team since he returned late from the last international break.
Courts stated it was “a private matter” and that the 31-year-old wouldn’t play this campaign.
It now casts major doubt on Butcher’s long-term future at Tannadice, even though he has a deal with the Scottish Premiership outfit that is due until the summer of 2024.
Courts said: “The club has maintained a stance it was a private matter with Calum, it is likely to be the same stance going forward.
“It is unlikely we will see Calum for the rest of the season.
“He has served the club really well and it has been a private matter that is being managed by the football club.
“Unfortunately, he won’t play for us between now and the end of the season.”
