CalMac's MV Glen Sannox removed from service following crack discovered in hull

MV Glen Sannox has been removed from service following the discovery of a crack in its hull.

CalMac confirmed the vessel was removed from service on Friday after a crack was discovered on a weld seam on the vessel’s hull, close to the waterline.

A spokesperson for CalMac said a dive team needs to assess the damage before the ferry can return to service.

Adding the earliest the vessel could be back in operation is Saturday morning and as a result all MV Glen Sannox sailings on Saturday, March 15, have been cancelled.

CalMac added that MV Alfred’s passenger capacity has been extended from Saturday morning until Monday.

“She will operate an extra single sailing from Brodick to Troon this evening and an extra return trip tomorrow evening,” CalMac said.

A shuttle service will operate between Lochranza – Claonaig and extra staff will be on hand at each side to help support customers.

The ferry operator added: “We apologise for the disruption, and our port teams and customer engagement centre will be working hard to contact affected customers.”
