Newcastle's goalscorers stack up well when compared with other players from around the Premier League, showing how they have become a free-scoring side.
Eddie Howe had Newcastle firing on all fronts this season, as they netted a brilliant 69 times in the Premier League. The club's highest tally of league goals since the 01/02 season under Sir Bobby Robson.
A major contributor to those 69 goals was the Magpies No 9 Callum Wilson. You would be forgiven for thinking his run of goals leading up to the World Cup was his best form, however he ended the season in even better form, earning a call-up from Gareth Southgate once again.
The stats show Wilson was the leading scorer of non-penalty goals from players outside the so called ‘big six’. Overall, the striker found the net on 18 occasions, but only three of which came from the spot. Couple that with his five assists and Wilson had the joint-highest combined non-penalty goals and assists outside the ‘big six’. Only Ollie Watkins can match that tally of 20.

Everyone is aware of the injury issues that Newcastle’s No 9 often faces in a season, so it's even more impressive to see him atop these stats. Ivan Toney (18) had two less combined non-penalty goals and assists despite playing over 1000 more minutes this season.
This reduced time on the pitch meant that with 0.95 Wilson had the highest ratio of non-penalty goals and assists per 90 minutes outside the ‘big six’. Wilson was not the only United attacker to have a good season in front of goal, Miguel Almiron and Alexander Isak were Newcastle’s second and third highest contributors to goals this season.
Almiron scored 11 league goals with two assists, none of his goals were from the penalty spot, meaning he averaged 0.47 goals or assists every 90 minutes. The Paraguayan had by far his best season for Newcastle, and who can forget his sensational run of form which saw him awarded Premier League player of the month in October.
Isak was not far off Wilson too, netting 10 goals this season, despite a thigh injury keeping him sidelined for four months. Isak managed eight non-penalty goals and one assist, however he did it in less time than Almiron leaving the Swede’s ratio at 0.53 per 90 minutes.
Reported Newcastle transfer targets, James Maddison and Harvey Barnes both feature high on the charts. With Maddison’s 18 non-penalty goals and assists ranking him fifth best outside the ‘big six’. Barnes managed 14 non-penalty goals assists too, placing him one ahead of Almiron.
A decent return for the Leicester players when you consider they were in a poor side, to whom were ultimately relegated.
