Callum Wilson makes Tottenham claim and hints at advantage Newcastle will enjoy on Sunday

Callum Wilson is hopeful that Newcastle can exploit a ‘fatigued’ Tottenham when the two sides clash on Sunday afternoon. Spurs had as many as 12 of their first team squad away on international duty whilst their opponents had considerably fewer away representing their countries.

The Magpies also enjoyed warm weather training in Dubai last month. And Wilson, who will miss the trip to the Tottenham due to injury, is optimistic that the added rest will give them an advantage over a Spurs side that have seen a number their players jetting off all over the world for the last two weeks.

“It will be a tough game,” Wilson said on the Footballer’s Football Podcast. “They have some good players, but players who are also away on international duty. Hopefully they have not had that rest and re-set, so they will be coming in a little big fatigued whereas our boys, we have not had so many away and have had week in Dubai and things like that.”

Newcastle travel to the capital having lost their last two games to Chelsea and Everton, respectively. However, prior to those defeats they won three Premier League games in a row to haul themselves away from the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Spurs, who have been largely inconsistent under Antonio Conte, seem to be finding form at just the right time after winning consecutive games against Brighton and West Ham before the international break.

With Arsenal not playing until Monday, Spurs can leapfrog their north London rivals and claim fourth spot if they beat the Magpies by two goals or more.
