Callum Wilson believes former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has a point to prove as he is set for his Newcastle United debut in the Carabao Cup final.
Karius signed a permanent contract with the Magpies last month after initially arriving on a short-term deal. He has yet to make his bow for Eddie Howe's side but that is set to change after Nick Pope's red card against the Reds last weekend.
As a result of the England international's dismissal in the 2-0 home loss to Liverpool, Pope will miss Newcastle's next three games, including their first cup final since 1999 when they take on Man Utd in this Sunday's Carabao Cup showpiece. Martin Dubravka is cup-tied after playing for the Red Devils during his short loan spell at Old Trafford earlier this season, leaving Karius and fourth-choice Mark Gillespie - who has yet to feature in the Premier League at the age of 29 - as their only goalkeeping options.

Karius' career at Anfield never restarted following his disastrous display in the Reds' 2018 Champions League final defeat against Real Madrid, when he inadvertently threw the ball against Karim Benzema and into the net before Gareth Bale's long-distance strike slipped through his grasp.
Sunday presents an opportunity for Karius and Magpies striker Wilson believes he can seek redemption at Wembley - winning the club's first piece of domestic cup silverware since 1955.
"He has so much to prove to people. That game made his career take a nosedive, so he has so much to prove to people," Wilson told BBC 5 Live's The Footballer’s Football Podcast.
"He's got more inspiration to turn peoples' opinions of him around than anyone else in the stadium.
"There are so many emotional attachments to this game that I think it is going to be a special day."
