Callum Paterson will not be moving back to Tynecastle - in a romantic return with reports suggesting that the Sheffield Wednesday star will remain put at Hillsborough.
Paterson grew up in the Hearts academy, joining at the age of 16 from Hutchinson Boys Club before going on to make over 158 appearances at Tynecastle as he burst onto the scene and into the Scotland national team.
He subsequently joined Cardiff City, firing them to the Premier League with 10 league goals in a three-year spell before leaving for Yorkshire. He's been one of their most important players throughout his time at the Owls, but reports linking him with a return back to Hearts after a five-year hiatus picked up over the January window. Robbie Neilson publicly announced his interest in the versatile right-back, and a deal looked to be likely.
But that now appears to be all but a dream, with The Examiner reporting that Hearts' transfer business has is now 'done' for the winter window - ruling out a Roy of the Roveres return for the Scotland international.
Hearts aren't exactly short of goals, with Paterson nipping in with more than his fair share whilst in the capital city - though they will have to make do with what they have as they push for third place and potential Scottish Cup heroics.
