Callum McGregor responds to Ange Postecoglou Celtic exit poser with 'as long as we can' verdict

Callum McGregor insists Celtic will be delighted to have boss Ange Postecoglou as long as they possibly can.

The Hoops boss has been touted for some major Premier League jobs this season including previously been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Leicester City - the latter to replace ex-Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers. Postecoglou's men suffered a rare draw against Motherwell on Saturday after the Steelmen held the Hoops in a sticky affair at Parkhead.

Man of the match McGregor was quizzed on the imminent future of the Aussie but believes the proof is in the pudding in relation his work so far in Glasgow. According to the Guardian this week, Postecoglou joins ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino and former Manchester City star turned Burnley coach Vincent Kompany in a three-man shortlist for the job at Chelsea.

But Scotland cap McGregor admits Postecoglou's impressive style of play is sure to get people talking but that he would 'delighted' for the former Socceroos coach to stay.

He said: "He's been fantastic. He's had a really good tenure and we want to keep him.

"His work is outstanding and he's a really good person. That's the type of people you want to work with and we would be delighted to keep him as long as we can.

"His work speaks for itself, the style that he plays, the attacking and the amount of goals that we score.

"That's going to get people talking but I think his full focus is going to be on the job at hand here and as long as we can keep him we will be delighted."
