Callum McGregor Celtic injury latest as Ange Postecoglou provides 'doesn't look good' update

Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on Callum McGregor after he hobbled off in the first half in the Red Bull Arena.

The Celtic skipper was replaced just before half-time as the search for a first win in the Champions League group stage goes on with two defeats and one draw from the first three games in the section to date. The fixtures come thick and fast with the return between the two sides to be played next week with hopes of reaching the next stage still alive.

But it doesn't sound positive for the influential captain with the Aussie boss admitting 'it doesn't look good' but he will wait for a full assessment from the club doctors. The 57-year-old also revealed post-match that Cameron Carter-Vickers will have a training session away from the main group and is hopeful his return to the fold won't be too far away.

Speaking on BT Sport about McGregor, he said: "It doesn't look good. We've been unlucky with the goal. He went to have a shot and tweaked his knee.

"He put in enormous effort to chase back and it was his sort of toe poke that put the guy through but looking at him it doesn't look good but I will wait and see what the doctors say.

On Carter-Vickers, he added: "He will have a session tomorrow away from the main group and hopefully he is not too far away.
