Callum McGregor has called for unity at Celtic as he reacted to the return of Brendan Rodgers as manager.
Celtic confirmed Rodgers had signed a three-year contract to replace Ange Postecoglou as manager, four years and four months after his sudden departure to Leicester after winning seven out of seven domestic trophies with the Hoops.
The announcement has been met with negativity from some fans, but captain McGregor is delighted to be back working with the Northern Irishman.
He explained: "Yeah of course the guys at the top of the club have been working really hard and relentless to make this happen.
"You become aware of it probably the start of last week. And there's been a lot of chat, a lot of good work done to get it over the line. It's great we've managed to get him back and it's a real positive step for the club, a real statement of intent.
"The guys here from last time really enjoyed working under him, it was a successful period. And in terms of him coming back it's important we draw that line and it's about what we can achieve moving forward with the new group.
"He's a top level manager, his preparation and detail towards every game, training session, he's constantly thinking football and how to make the club, team and individuals better.
"He's had a brilliant track record of that everywhere he's been and the guys are looking forward to working with him at a close level and the guys who are still at the club, that'll be a really good coaching team."
McGregor was also delighted to hear that John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan will be remaining at the club, despite reports linking them with moves to Tottenham Hotspur with Postecoglou.
He continued: "Continuity was the key message. The previous manager did a fantastic job but it helps that the excellent staff we had in the building who worked really well together.
"We wish Ange all the best but the message within the group was keeping continuity as we have a great group of staff who work tirelessly every day. That with the return of Brendan is really exciting times for the players and supporters."
In a message to supporters, McGregor added: "I think everyone should be hugely excited. A new season, big new challenges.
"There will always be something new for the players, the group and the supporters to handle that challenge.
"It is important that we embrace that together. We always speak about how important the supporters are.
"It is now about sticking together. The club has appointed a new manager, the players are off at the minute, but in a few weeks time everyone will be ready to go back to work.
"As I say the message is we move forward together."
