Celtic skipper Callum McGregor believes adopting a "siege mentality" at Ibrox will reap rewards in their final clash with Rangers this season.
The champions are basking in the glow of a second consecutive title under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou and head to the home of their biggest rivals aiming to round off an unbeaten season against Rangers. McGregor believes the stakes remain high despite the league being wrapped up. And he has urged his fellow team-mates to rise to the occasion once again against Michael Beale's men.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "Another huge game, we go there full of confidence in terms of being crowned champions. We have got that on the line. There's always pride, they are always big games and we are looking forward to it. It becomes a siege mentality when you go in there, you've got your crowd of guys you go in with, and the whole stadium is against you. So you have to use that in a positive way and try and start the game well, silence the crowd and be dominant. That's all the things we will try and do."
Celtic can break the all-time points total in a 38-game season, however, McGregor is keen to focus on the next game by placing faith in Postecoglou's trusty message which has led to an astonishing 31 wins in 34 league games this season.
He added: "We just want to finish on a positive. The manager is always speaking about 'can we play the best game of the season in our next game?', and if we try and do that and try and maximise every game we have got, that will hopefully be a consequence of that. But I don't think we should get too focused on it or carried away. We just focus the next game as the most important and we'll see where that takes us at the end of the season."
