Callum Hudson-Odoi faces key decision as Chelsea receive Ousmane Dembele transfer boost

Your Chelsea morning digest on Tuesday, Ferbruary 1.

Callum Hudson-Odoi holds meeting

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has reportedly held a meeting with Chris Hughton to discuss his international future.

Hughton is thought to be closing in on becoming the new manager of the Ghanaian national team and has been pictured in discussions with Hudson-Odoi and the player's father.

According to Fentuo Tahiru Fentuo, of CitiNewsroom, the meeting is believed to be related to the player's international future, with the 21-year-old eligible to play for Ghana through his parents.

Hudson-Odoi is yet to play for the England senior side, leaving the possibility of a career in an alternative national team open.

Ousmane Dembele gives Chelsea transfer boost

Chelsea may not have been able to strengthen their side during the January transfer window, but Thomas Tuchel does at least have a reason for optimism.

In the days before the deadline it looked like target Ousmane Dembele could be on his way to Paris Saint-Germain, with the Blues unwilling to push ahead with a rushed deal.

But PSG could not agree terms with Barcelona, and in the aftermath of the deal falling through, L'Equipe revealed that the French international would prefer a move to Chelsea in the future.

Dembele will be a free agent come the summer and could prove to be a real bargain.

Frank Lampard confirmed as Everton manager

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has been confirmed as the Toffees' new manager, with Chelsea coach Joe Edwards following him.

Initial reports emerged over the weekend suggesting that the former Blues boss would be offered the role, having beaten the likes of Duncan Ferguson and Vitor Pereira to the post.

And on deadline day, the deal was finally confirmed, with Lampard taking over a side with confidence at a low.

"I think Everton is a unique club in that you can really understand what the fans want to see. The first thing they want is fight and desire and that must always be our baseline," he said in his first interview in the role.

“My first message to the players will be that we have to do this together. We’ll try to do our job and I know the fans will be there backing us.”
