Callum Hendry confirms St Johnstone departure as striker prepares for next chapter

CALLUM HENDRY has confirmed his exit from St Johnstone and signed for Salford City.

The striker moved to Perth from Blackburn Rovers in 2017 and he went on to score 21 goals in 91 appearances for Saints.

Hendry played a huge part for Callum Davidson's side as they remained in the Scottish Premiership last term.

After returning from a loan spell at Kilmarnock, he bagged some key goals to ensure the club's safety in the division.

Writing on Instagram, he said: "Saints. I would just like to thank @stjohnstone for everything they've done for me since I came up here in 2017.

"Plenty of highs and plenty of lows but I came up a boy trying to follow his dream after some horrific injuries and Saints helped turn me into the man who is now achieving those dreams.

"So the biggest thank you to the gaffer, coaches, staff around the club and most importantly the fans who have supported, me from day one.

"From the bottom of my heart, I will forever be indebted to this club and the city of Perth. All the best Saintees."

After signing for Salford, he said: “I’m really excited to be joining Salford City, it’s an exciting and ambitious club and I can’t wait to get started and play a part in what the club is looking to achieve."

On his first signing, head coach Neil Wood added: “Callum is great addition to our squad, young and hungry to achieve success. He is a great fit for us here at Salford City, it’s an exciting signing for the club and the fans."
