Callum Davidson among those in exhibition match action as Saints raise Show Racism the Red Card awareness

An exhibition football match between St Johnstone staff and Saints in the Community’s mental health and wellbeing team helped raise awareness for Show Racism the Red Card.

The much-anticipated Wednesday afternoon fixture was played in a friendly and competitive nature, with a number of familiar faces on show.

Manager Callum Davidson laced up his boots and rolled back the years alongside Saints legend Liam Craig.

The mixed staff team also featured vice chairman Charlie Fraser and head of operations Ian Flaherty.

Goalkeeper Remi Matthews was referee for the second half of the game.

Saints’ record appearance holder Craig, now a coach with the club, said: “It was a fantastic occasion to be involved in.

“It is always a competitive match whenever we play against the community’s mental health team. The lads in that team are great, they really enjoy the matches.

“I still enjoy playing so I like to get involved whenever I can and it was great to see the gaffer join in as well.”

Saints in the Community chief executive, Fran Smith, said: “It was fantastic for the trust and club staff to come together to play against the Saints in the Community mental health team to highlight Show Racism the Red Card.

“It is important that this message is always at the fore front and we continue to drive racism out of football. Having Callum Davidson and Liam Craig come out to play gave the team a boost as they felt appreciated.”
