Anthony Albanese said his government would take “the strongest action possible” if it confirms reports Melbourne man Oscar Jenkins was killed by Russian forces after being captured while fighting for Ukraine.
Peter Dutton argued the Russian ambassador “should be sent packing” if Jenkins’s death was confirmed and the foreign minister, Penny Wong, said expelling Aleksey Pavlovsky was “on the table”.
The debate comes as the Russia-Ukraine war enters day 1,057, with Moscow praising Donald Trump for repeating Russia’s claim that Ukraine was planning to join Nato, which caused Russia to invade.
