Neighbours on a city road next to a school have labelled it 'dangerous' due to speeding drivers. People living around Hempshill Lane, Bulwell said that motorists drove above the speed limit next to the Hempshill Hall primary school and made it hard to cross with children.
When Nottinghamshire Police asked on social media for public suggestions of where the most speeding took place residents and parents of children at the nearby school highlighted the road as a problem. Locals said speeding on the road made it difficult to cross the road with children.
Elaine Herman, 64, who is a carer and lives on Meadow Rise which fronts onto the road, said that the road was 'dangerous' when crossing with her granddaughter. "The big concern is that it is right next to the primary school, and that makes it more dangerous." Ms Herman said.

"We have bumps next to the school, but cars shoot off from them down the road. The main concern for me is that crossing the road with my granddaughter to get to school is difficult at times.
"People don't stick to the 20mph speed limit at all and you have to walk between parked cars. The road definitely has a speeding problem, if you had a speed camera here you would catch loads of people."
A resident of Springhill Drive, who wished to remain anonymous added: "It is pretty bad at times, but I wouldn't say it is a disaster at the minute. I don't think anyone is doing 20mph, but I'm not sure if anyone would do down this road.
"There has been one big accident on this road but that is all I can remember. I think that the main concern is because you've got the school right there."
Maria Joannou, Labour Nottingham City Councillor for Bulwell, said: "In terms of speeding, it is quite a busy road and it one of those that is a bit wide and doesn't have a lot of traffic, so there's that opportunity to speed. People seem to use it as a lane and I notice that people do speed.
"A lot of parents are not happy about children crossing that road. It has always been a road that people speed along but although we have had complaints about it we haven't had a lot that have related to accidents. A lot of the evidence is anecdotal. But I can see how speeding drivers could be an issue on that road."
