
One of the growing ways consumers can immerse themselves in Dolby Atmos content is in the car. We have heard the technology in action for ourselves using different combinations of streaming services and car manufacturers, and the results can be impressive, if a little inconsistent.
The latest automotive manufacturer to get on board and support the spatial audio tech is General Motors, with Cadillac set to benefit from a major Dolby Atmos boost through its partnership with Amazon Music.
You can play Atmos content from the service over USB via a compatible source device, or you can access it natively through Cadillac’s infotainment system (you’ll need a data plan and subscription to Amazon Music Unlimited to stream, obviously).
Cadillac’s Dolby Atmos with Amazon Music rollout is starting with the all-electric Cadillac Optiq and Vistiq. It will become standard in select 2025 and 2026 Cadillac models, including its entire 2026 electric vehicle (EV) lineup.
The Optiq and Vistiq feature 19-speaker and 23-speaker AKG sound systems respectively which incorporate headrest and height speakers and Harman’s “1-amp architecture”, which maps Dolby Atmos Tracks to each speaker location.
"Amazon Music with Dolby Atmos is the latest built-in app for GM’s infotainment system, bringing multidimensional sound to your drive and going beyond the limits of simply pairing your phone,” said Baris Cetinok, GM senior VP of software and services product management, program management, and design.
