What will happen in the new series?
The hit show has now entered the 1970s.
Trouble is unfortunately ahead for Violet Buckle, now the mayor of Tower Hamlets while another storyline will see a pregnant teenage girl in need of support, in the face of parents who believe immaculate conception.
In the trailer, Violet (played by Annabelle Apsion) discovers “trouble on her own doorstep" while attempting to calm people down after protests on the Isle of Dogs.
Meanwhile, Trixie Franklin (Helen George) will face major challenges as she step into a new management role at Nonnatus House.
It’s not all strife, though. The BBC has revealed an image showing an engagement ring being placed on someone’s finger - but who will it be?
Which case members are returning and who is new?
Call The Midwife’s latest series will see all of the recent series regulars return, including the nuns and midwives of Nonnatus House, as well as the likes of Dr Turner and his family, and Cyril Robinson.
