Call The Midwife viewers have raised concerns about Helen George's future on the show, just as her character Trixie Franklin starred in a tragic scene at the end of Sunday's episode.
After being written out of the hit BBC drama to give birth to her youngest child, Helen's on screen alias, Trixie, made an eagerly anticipated return to Poplar and Nonatus House for the Christmas special, with a very happy ending in store for her as Matthew proposed to her.
Following that very romantic moment, Trixie has been at the thick of the action in Call The Midwife, with her and Matthew separated she was 'locked down' in the maternity ward after an e-coli outbreak. And Helen being at the centre of some big storylines comes as she returns to the stage to star as Anna in a UK tour of The King and I.

There was another big moment for Helen and Trixie as series 12 continued on Sunday, with Matthew's dad Sir Brigham came to visit. It became very apparent from the outset that the pensioner was very outspoken in his views, going from describing Trixie as 'the girl of everyone's dreams' to voicing his disapproval of her.
But, while it may have not been reciprocated there was nothing but love from Trixie to her soon to be father in law, with her affectionately calling him Pops.
That meant she was left devastated when, after hearing shout of pain from the bathroom, she rushed in to see Sir Brigham, played by TV veteran and star of The Archers, Michael Cochrane, unconscious on the floor. After trying to revive him, Trixie failed to find a pulse and was left sobbing over his body.
As credits rolled on Sunday's Call The Midwife, some viewers speculated that Helen might not play such a big role in Call The Midwife in the future, with one tweeting: "The show has always coped well with the ever-changing cast, but I hope Lucille comes back. I have a bad feeling about Trixie as well," before adding: "I think if Trixie is in next series, it will be in a reduced role. The King and I tour is quite long and runs into when the show's usually filmed."
