A California man has been charged with the alleged drugging and sexual assault of at least nine women at his homes in Hermosa and Redondo Beach, as announced by the Los Angeles County District Attorney. The accused, aged 50, is said to have committed these assaults between 2019 and 2021, with one victim reportedly dying as a result of the drugs administered.
According to a statement released by the LA County DA office, the perpetrator, Michael DiGiorgio, is believed to have caused significant harm to several of his victims. Many of the alleged actions were carried out while the victims were under the influence of drugs, leading to severe bodily injury for three of them.
Expressing sympathy for the victims, District Attorney George Gascón stated, 'I extend my deepest sympathy to the victims, whose lives have been irrevocably changed, and the life lost by the alleged brutal acts of the offender.' Gascón emphasized the commitment of their office to holding the accused accountable for the pain and trauma inflicted.
DiGiorgio is facing a range of charges, including murder, rape by use of a drug, sodomy by use of a drug, sexual penetration by use of a drug, oral copulation by use of a drug, forcible rape, forcible sexual penetration, rape of an unconscious person, and furnishing a controlled substance. The accused was arraigned at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.
If convicted, DiGiorgio could potentially receive a maximum sentence of life in prison. Investigators suspect that there may be additional victims of DiGiorgio who have not yet come forward.
