Caleb Williams Responds To Booing From Bears Home Crowd

The Chicago Bears lost their 10th game in a row on Thursday night, and did so in an ugly fashion. Their game against the Seattle Seahawks concluded as the lowest scoring contest in the NFL so far in 2024, which featured 13 punts and 9 total points. The Bears, playing at home, scored just three points to the Seahawks’ 6, much to the dismay of the home crowd.

Bears Lose 10th Game In A Row, Fans In Chicago Boo

Boos rained down on Caleb Williams and company at the conclusion of the game, as frustrations have grown for the rookie quarterback and the team he was supposed to save.

He addressed the issue during his postgame press conference. When asked about the reaction by the fans, Williams said the following:

“I’ve only been here for, this is my first year. Their frustrations go way longer back than I’ve been here. My job is to go out there and win games.”

It is not exactly the answer that the Bears’ faithful are looking for. The fans in Chicago have every right to feel irritated and dissatisfied. Their Bears have been on the search for a franchise quarterback for decades, but it seemed like they were finally able to catch a break by locking down the #1 overall pick in the most recent NFL Draft.

While Williams has shown flashes of brilliance during his rookie season, the lackluster results of the games haven’t changed much. After starting the year with a promising 4-2 record, their 10th straight loss is tied with the Giants for the longest current streak in the league. They fired their head coach during that run, the first time the franchise has ever made such a move in the middle of a season, and will bring in yet another new regime during the coming off-season to try and help their young QB.

Aside from the game results, Williams has had a solid statistical first year in the NFL. With one game left to play, he has thrown for nearly 3,400 yards on the season, and has just 6 interceptions compared to his 19 touchdown passes. But he has been sacked far more than any other quarterback in the league this season, with his 67 takedowns being 15 more than CJ Stroud in second place.

Ending the season on a high-note won’t be easy. The final game of the regular season for the Bears will be played on the road against the Green Bay Packers, who have been one of the top teams in the NFC so far this year. Chicago has lost the last 11 meetings between the two sides, and are 3-21 against the Packers dating back to 2011.
