Caitriona Balfe is set to direct an episode of Outlander for the very first time.
The Monaghan actress has revealed she is "really excited" as she prepares to direct her co-star Sam Heughan on the next and final season of the hit show.
Speaking on Good Morning America, Caitriona said: "I feel really fortunate to be given this opportunity on the show. It just felt like the perfect place to try something new."

The mum-of-one was on the American chat show promoting Outlander’s seventh season, which airs next week on STARZ YouTube channel.
"I feel this season is the biggest one we’ve done since season one," she said.
"We were young when we started."
The former supermodel joked that the advice she would give to her younger self is "to get more sleep."
She continued: "I think when we started we were both quite new to the industry."
Caitriona admitted she's a bit apprehensive to step behind the camera on the romantic drama.
She said: "I've been asking for a while - it's something I've been interested in.
"Our crew have been so supportive.
"We've been there 10 years, so they're like a proper family.
"It's just been amazing. I started doing some second unit already, and I'm going to do a full episode."
Although the Belfast star admitted that she’s "terrified" to direct an episode, she teased that she told her co-star Sam that she'd direct all his scenes in one take.
Caitriona also added that season eight will be the show's last.
Caitríona and Sam first began working on Outlander a decade ago and last month, the actress told Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show about the impact the show has had on her.
She said: "It's changed my life. I was very late to start acting.
"I changed my career at 30, which is usually the age when people say, 'You haven't made it, it's over'
"It gave me everything. It's opened so many doors for me."
