Caglar Soyuncu has told Chelsea why they should avoid £42m transfer risk amid Mushin Bayrak talk

Leicester City centre-half Caglar Soyuncu has admitted that his season has been "difficult" amid fresh transfer rumours with potential new Chelsea owner Muhsin Bayrak keen on completing £42million transfer if his takeover is completed.

Soyuncu has been part of a Leicester defence that has been rather leaky this term under Brendan Rodgers, who is still under the spotlight with many Foxes fans demanding change.

In the Premier League alone, Rodgers' team have a -3 goal difference as they have to date conceded a vast 43 goals in 25 games which seems unusual for a team who were challenging for the European spots last season.

Their contrast in fortune has led not just Rodgers' future to be thrown up in the air but also the likes of Youri Tielemans who is set to leave at the end of this season with Arsenal reportedly interested alongside other clubs such as Liverpool.

Now, Soyuncu seems to be a name that the Leicester hierarchy are looking to cash in on ahead of the summer with reports indicating that the 25-year-old will be looking for new ventures come the conclusion of this current campaign.

Like Tielemans, the Turk is set to enter the final year of his contract if he was to stay at the King Power Stadium, so this summer and January are the last chances the Foxes have if they are to make any money off the pair.

The report goes on to add that Barcelona also want the Turkish international but the 25-year-old's preference is to stay within the Premier League.

Chelsea's current situation is up in the air following sanctions to Roman Abramovich that will prevent the club from being sold, with the club under the UK government's 'Russia Regulations' licence - which is currently set to run until May 31.

Chelsea will also not be able to sign new contracts, meaning the likes of Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta are all set to leave for free at the end of the season.

If Chelsea were to be able to move on from Abramovich and end the 'Russia Regulations' licence, they could potentially seal a deal for Soyuncu.

However, he has already indirectly told Chelsea why they should perhaps look elsewhere, with the defender admitting that it's been a tough time for himself and his teammates.

"This season has been difficult," Soyuncu told CITY Matchday Magazine. "We are not at the point we would like to be, but we have the strength to get there.

"We all want to perform to our best and take some positive steps forward between now and the end of the season. That is very important for us.

"We have set a high standard over the last couple of seasons.

"All of the players and staff who work in this club, including myself, are trying very hard to get back to our best."
