Cade Klubnik: Clemson QB To Return in 2025, Skipping NFL Draft

Cade Klubnik is going back to college. The Clemson quarterback will return for the 2025 season with the Tigers, Klubnik announced Monday.

Cade Klubnik Returning To Clemson

After leading Clemson to the College Football Playoff, Klubnik has decided to return for his fourth and final season instead of declaring for the NFL Draft. Klubnik is 19-9 as Clemson’s starter.

“The story isn’t over. See y’all in 2025,” Klubnik wrote on his social media accounts to announce his return.

Klubnik finished his second full season as the Tigers’ starter with 3,639 passing yards, 36 passing touchdowns, and six interceptions. Klubnik also rushed for 463 yards and seven touchdowns.

Klubnik was responsible for 43 touchdowns, third behind Miami’s Cam Ward (44) and Washington State’s John Mateer (44).

Klubnik led Clemson to the ACC title game, where the Tigers defeated SMU by a score of 34-31 to advance to the College Football Playoff. Klubnik threw for four touchdown passes against SMU, an ACC title game record.

Klubnik arguably played the best out of any quarterback in the opening round, completing 26 of 43 passes for 336 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Texas defeated Clemson 38-24 in the first round.

Cade Klubnik Joins A Growing List of QBs Returning To College

Klubnik is choosing to return to Clemson instead of entering the NFL Draft. Bleacher Report recently gave Klubnik a second-round grade.

Klubnik is not the only high-profile quarterback to skip the NFL Draft and return to college. Penn State’s Drew Allar will bypass the NFL Draft and return in 2025 for the Nittany Lions.

On the other hand, Georgia’s Carson Beck recently declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders are expected to be the first two quarterbacks taken in the draft. The name to keep an eye on is Texas’ Quinn Ewers, who has not decided on his future.
