Cadburys Twirl fans outraged as mini bars get dropped from Heroes tub

Every Christmas, chocolate lovers look forward to tucking into a box of Cadbury Heroes. But Twirl fans should be warned that there's a major difference this festive season - and it could cause carnage at family gatherings. In place of the bite-size Twirls normally found inside the much-loved novelty box, fans will instead find two normal-sized bars in selected tubs.

Cadbury announced earlier this year that the swap would have to be made due to supply issues, and it's not gone down so well with some Twirl fans.

Thankfully, the loss of the mini Twirls won't reduce the amount of chocolate included, but it could make the goodies more difficult to share among friends and family - as people have been learning the hard way when opening up their boxes this year.

The novelty boxes will no longer include bit-size Twirls (definataliemayb/Twitter)

Taking to Twitter to share their shock, one fan posted a photo of their find, captioned: "Just found a big Twirl in the Heroes box. Absolutely massive. Carnage at curry night."

Equally stunned, another social media user asked: "Excuse me why is there a normal size twirl in my box of heroes!?" And a third tweeted: "This is the Twirl in our box of Miniature Heroes. Only they're not Miniature Heroes any more - they're just Heroes!! And some of them are randomly massive!"

Unimpressed, the chocolate lover then quizzed Cadbury, asking: "What is this madness?" Tagging Celebrations they quipped, "you're warned - none of this silliness", before asking Quality Street to "save us".

However, the change has gone down a treat with other fans. Elsewhere, a worker was delighted to find a full-sized treat. "When your in need of a mid shift chocolate hit and find a full size twirl in the Miniature Hero’s! #winning," they tweeted.

A spokesman for Mondelez, the company that owns Cadbury, said: "We’re facing the same challenges that many other food companies have reported in recent months, including supply chain disruptions which has impacted the availability of Cadbury Twirl products in our Heroes 600g Tubs.

"To ensure we can continue to bring our loyal consumers the products they know and love, we have temporarily substituted treatsize / bitesize Cadbury Twirl in Heroes Tubs, to the slightly larger Cadbury Twirl 21g across a small percentage of tubs produced. Rest assured consumers can enjoy the same amount of chocolate as before with the overall weight of the product remaining the same."

The spokesperson also confirmed only a small percentage of the 600g tubs will be affected. No changes have been made to Heroes 290g cartons.
