Cadbury issues urgent warning after Easter egg scam emerges online

Cadbury has issued a warning after a potential scam aimed at accessing people's personal information has came to light. The company was in-turn alerted to posts being shared on social media, promising consumers a free Easter chocolate basket.

Parents across the UK were among those to receive the posts from other social media users, who thought they were benefiting from a treat free of charge. Stating 'Cadbury FREE Easter Chocolate Basket' the link actually took people to a website where they were asked to submit their personal information - The Manchester Evening News Reports.

However, this afternoon, the company has issued a notice warning people around the world about the scam - urging them not to share any private details.

In a Facebook post shared almost 2,000 times, Cadbury said: "We’ve been made aware of circulating posts on social media, claiming to offer consumers a free Easter Chocolate basket.

"We can confirm that this has not been generated by us and would urge consumers not to interact or share personal information through the post. Customer security is our priority and we’re working with the relevant organisations to ensure this is resolved."
