Cadbury fans find a very big problem with new Dairy Milk advent calendar

Everyone loves an advent calendar don't they, but Cadbury is trying something new this year - in the form of an 'advent bar'. Behind the iconic purple Dairy Milk wrapper lies a very big bar of the chocolate, divided into 25 individual chunks.

And the idea is that you eat one a day in the countdown to Christmas. Now Cadbury itself describes it as a '1 chunk a day challenge' on the wrapper, so it's acknowledged it's not going to be easy.

And fans of the chocolate have been questioning the 'madness' of the concept, saying there's 'no way' an open bar of chocolate would last a month in their house. We shared photos of the bar on our Manchester Family Facebook page and hundreds of people responded, most of them saying the same thing.

"Not happening, the whole bar would be eat in one day," said Rebecca Polding. "More like one every 15 seconds in my case," said Clare Nicholson, with Emma Barker adding: "Nope, never gonna happen. Once that wrapper gets opened it would get demolished."

Jade Cowan described it as 'the most ridiculous idea ever', with Penny Austin adding: "They’re having a laugh!! Can’t see that catching on."

Of course, after sharing photos of the bar, we had to give it a go, and can confirm that our readers are correct. Three of us shared it and it was probably gone in 15 minutes.

It's definitely a challenge. Whether anyone will stick to it remains to be seen, but I don't fancy their chances.

The 270g bar can be found in most supermarkets and budget stores like B&M from £2.49. And if you'd rather avoid temptation by having a door a day to open, you can still get the traditional Dairy Milk advent calendars from around £1.50.
