Chocolate fans have been left confused after opening their tubs of Cadbury's Heroes only to find that its Twirl Mini Bites had been replaced.
The confectionary giant announced in September that it had to make a change to its popular festive box of chocs after it was hit with a shortage.
As a result, the Twirl Mini Bites have instead been replaced with two regular size single-bars in the tubs, reports The Sun.
Shoppers who have begun to notice the changes immediately flocked to Twitter to express their confusion, with one saying: "Opening my box of Heroes to find two Twirls in there instead of the mini ones, does this mean I’ve won something or was there just a shortage at the factory on the mini ones?"
Cadbury owner, Mondelez, explained that the reason for the substitute has been down to supply chain issues which affected the availability of the bitesize Twirls.
The Cadbury Heroes change comes just after Mars Wrigley caused controversy earlier this month by officially axing the divisive Bounty's from its Celebrations tubs.
A spokesperson for Mondelez said: "We’re facing the same challenges that many other food companies have reported in recent months, including supply chain disruptions which has impacted the availability of Cadbury Twirl products in our Heroes 600g Tubs.
"To ensure we can continue to bring our loyal consumers the products they know and love, we have temporarily substituted treatsize / bitesize Cadbury Twirl in Heroes Tubs, to the slightly larger Cadbury Twirl 21g across a small percentage of tubs produced. Rest assured consumers can enjoy the same amount of chocolate as before with the overall weight of the product remaining the same."
