Cadbury and Fry's launch King's Coronation chocolate bars available at Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Asda

As the nation prepares to celebrate His Majesty King Charles III ascending to the throne, two best loved chocolate brands have had a royal makeover to commemorate the event. Cadbury and Fry’s are launching four limited edition Coronation bars - and prices start from £1.

Suited for keen collectors, the limited edition range makes for the perfect regal treat for the many ‘Coronation Big Lunch’ celebrations taking place up and down the country this May bank holiday.

The new designs will adorn Cadbury Dairy Milk, Cadbury Bournville, Fry’s Cream and Fry’s Turkish Delight bars. Each bar will feature a specially created crown design, celebrating the long-standing relationship between Cadbury and the monarchy.

Cadbury Dairy Milk will receive a royal transformation with the iconic Cadbury purple packaging adorned with a regal, white crown design.

The celebration of the new Sovereign continues with the newly designed Bournville bar, Fry’s Cream and Turkish Delight multipacks. The traditional chocolates, first launched in 1908, 1866, and 1914 respectively, will feature a specially created crown design much like the one which will be bestowed upon the new monarch.

Cadbury's are giving their Dairy Milk bar a makeover for the King's Coronation (Cadbury)

Cadbury and Fry’s has had a long history of support from the Royal family, the earliest of which dates back to the reign of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra when a special Cadbury tin was produced to mark their Coronation in 1902.

Cadbury has frequently marked special moments such as Coronations, Jubilees, and even royal birthdays, one of the most memorable being the Cadbury Coronation Souvenir Tin range marking the formal investiture of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.

Gemma Flanigan, Brand Representative commented: “Cadbury and Fry’s have a long-established history of marking Royal occasions, most recently for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee last year where we produced a limited edition Roses tin and Cadbury Dairy Milk bar.

As people across the country savour this special moment and join together to mark The King’s Coronation, we hope these new, commemorative bars will be a welcome addition to the celebrations this May.”

The oversized Cadbury Dairy Milk bar is available at a wide range of retailers including Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons, as well as on CadburyGiftsDirect.co.uk. Its RRP is £9.99, but the cheapest place to buy it currently is Tesco, where you can get it for £7 with a Clubcard.

Meanwhile, the Bournville bar is available in all major supermarkets and convenience stores for around £2, with the Fry’s commemorative treats found in Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda for £1.
