C.J. Stroud Likely to Miss Another Game for Texans Due to Injury, per Report

Texans’ quarterback C.J. Stroud will likely be out for a second straight week after suffering a concussion in the team’s Week 14 clash against the Jets, according to ESPN’s DJ Bien-Aime.

Stroud is still in the concussion protocol, and while the Texans will surely hope for their rookie signal-caller to improve before this week’s game, the expectation for the time being appears to be that he will be unavailable.

Should Stroud remain on the sideline, starting duties will likely once again fall to Case Keenum, who threw for 229 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Houston’s overtime win over the Titans last week.

The team also signed former Jets quarterback Tim Boyle to fill out the depth chart.

After last week’s win, the Texans sit at 8–6 on the season and are in the thick of the playoff race in the AFC, tied with both the Jaguars and Colts atop the AFC South standings.

In addition to potentially reshuffling the division standings, Sunday’s game against the Browns could also have huge implications on the AFC Wild Card picture.

Houston and Cleveland kick off on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
